This app. finds the ISIN number of each stock ticker, then ensures that it is a reportable fund by checking the current HMRC Approved Funds list and then tries to lookup the ERI only if you held the stock on it’s reporting date. Then it finds the published ERI for that reporting date and the Fx rate on the distribution date and calculates the total ERI for the quantity of shares held on the reporting date. ERI data is often hard to find, especially for past years because it is published only on the providers site and often very difficult to find (if at all). Tip: Save your ERI data each year so you can add all declared ERI to your share cost when selling the ETF and calculating CGT – more info on ERI here and here.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Paste or load all your trades (use the cgtcalculator.com format – you can use my calculator on the home page to convert your .csv files into this format).
2. Choose a Tax year and click ANALYSE (may take several minutes – watch the analysis window, ‘ALL’ years may take considerably longer!).
3. Use the ‘Save ERI .csv‘ button to save the trades listed – then load the .csv into Excel and fill in any missing ERI columns…
4. Use the ERI Lookup buttons to find any missing ERI for the tax years that you held ETFs on – after clicking an ERI lookup button, paste the ISIN number from the clipboard into the KPMG search box to find the ERI rate for each share. Fill in the missing data (? fields) in the .csv file and add in the Fx rate for the distribution date (use 1 for GBP). You may need to ask Google or ChatGPT if the ERI is missing (double check answer!) or ask for the historical Fx rate on the Distribution date.
5. The ERI Data text (DIVIDEND entries) can be pasted onto your existing trades on the main calculator page. The ERI dividends will then be added to the cost of your trades and thus it will reduce your capital gains on any sale as the gain will be lower. ERI should be reported on SA106 as Foreign dividends each year on your Self-Assessment return.
Missing ERI? If you find an ERI Reportable Income file on a provider’s website for a particular year which this app. has failed to find, please inform me and I will add in support. Note: ERI reports may not be available until 6-12 months after the Reporting date.
Version v4.53 PHP – 16 June 2026 – Reports which funds in your portfolio you held on their reporting date and thus notional ERI may need to be declared.
